Devil's Playground

left to right: Britney, Bob and Tayo, Hannalee, Beth, Joel, Kyle, Cheryl

We survived our first camping trip of the year with two little ones and had SO MUCH FUN! Our home teaching family invited us to join them for a camping/4-wheeling trip to Devil's Playground. It is seriously out in the middle of nowhere and if it hadn't been a wet cool spring it would have been dry and hot. Lucky for us it was fairly green and the temperatures were just right.

Hannalee did surprisingly well on the long drive. She entertained herself with books and for the first time ever enjoyed looking out the window. Tayo was great. He slept the whole way!

Our campsite was up a mini canyon and we didn't see another soul for a whole day. The kids slept the whole night through. I woke up more then once with soar hips (the hard ground isn't as easy on the body after having babies).

Good morning !

Hannalee enjoyed being outside, playing in the dirt, riding 4-wheelers, and getting spoiled with attention by Beth and Joel (our home teachers).

Can't go camping without getting nice and dirty.

Hannalee was in heaven. A marshmallow the size of her hand!

Beth and Joel were so generous. They watched our kids a couple of times so Bob and I could go 4-wheeler riding together. On our first trip out we took only our 4-wheeler. Being as old as it is we told Joel if we weren't back in an hour to come looking for us. When our 4-wheeler (we'll call her Old Blue) started sputtering as we went up a hill, I thought we were in trouble. But she mad it everywhere we need to go. We found this old mine a the top of one trail. Mines give me the heeby-geebies. But it was cool to find.

The mine.

The view. (Riding in our "not a seat" seat was comfy, but a bit scary. I felt really high up and on some steep spots felt like I would make Old Blue roll.)

The second time we went out, Joel's son, Kyle, and his wife, Cheryl, came with us and Joel let me use his 4-wheeler. We road out to some really cool rock formations.

There were lots of holes to crawl into in these rocks that just poked up out of the ground.

Kyle at the bottom, but can you find Cheryl?
