First my mom's. We had a delicious lunch of shredded BBQ chicken. Then we had fun doing our new tradition we started last year: boys vs. girls Easter Egg Hunt. The rules are simple, the boys hide the girls' eggs and the girls hide the boys' eggs. The first to find them all wins. Bryan sarcastically said that PETA would at our door step if we continued this tradition because they are against hunting. :0)
The boys lost last year so they got to choose which side of the house to hide our eggs on. They choose the North side, which does have better hiding spots. We made a new rule this year that at least two eggs had to be super easy for Hannalee to find.
When all the eggs were hidden, we raced out to find them all. As soon as Hannalee found an egg and discovered there was M&Ms inside, she was very excited to find more.
The boys won this year by a landslide. We had to have hints to find our last one. I love this tradition. We laugh so much.
Hannalee also enjoyed her Easter books from Grandma.
Next Bob's Family. We ate again, a delicious turkey dinner. Then it was time for their Easter tradition. Bob's mom fills Easter baskets and then hides them outside for everyone to find. Some years, finding them is no easy task for because there are great hiding spot around their yard. One year, Bob's brother, Jim's basket was hid in a culvert under the road in front of their house. He had to have some major hints to find that one. Another year, Bob's mom's basket was on the top of their house!
This year we all found them fairly easy. The grandkids' baskets were in plain sight, easy to find. But Hannalee got a bit distracted with this:
My sister-in-law's brother-in-law (what a mouth full) was going to give it to the DI. Angie already had one for Max, but said she know someone who would like it. So she saved it for us. Hannalee loves it! She would climb in and out, open and shut the door, and honk the horn. Finally she had enough playing to go check out her basket.
Cute stuffed bunny, not important.
Of course she had to sit down right there and eat it immediately even though we had just finished dinner.
Happy Late Easter!
