With much embarrassment we are joining the BAA (Binky Abusers Anonymous).
Week 1 of Hannalee's life: She loves the Binky they gave her at the hospital. Look closely at her clenched fingers and white knuckles, she is not giving it up to anyone!
Month 2 of Hannalee's life: Binky free. She decided that if it didn't give her any substance it wasn't worth the effort.
But her crazy parents put peer pressure on her to use it thinking, "All the other baby's are using it."
Month 3-7 of Hannalee's life: Each day the addiction grew stronger. At first it was just a suck here and there. She could do with or without it. But no, mom and dad kept forcing it on her. Hannalee could be seen with the Binky in her mouth in the morning, afternoon and night. She was especially fond of it during church. (OK, mom and dad were fond of it during church to keep her quiet.)
Soon the addiction became pure abuse. It was the only way she could get to sleep. But mom had made a rule that it had to be out of her mouth before she was put into her crib. (That lasted about a week.) Now, she has a personal Binky Fairy that comes in in the middle of the night to stick the Binky back in. Sometimes 5 times a night!
THAT'S IT! TIME TO JOIN BAA!
Month 8 week 1 of Hannalee's life: The Binky is only allowed during naps, car rides, church and during the night. But the Binky Fairy is fired.
She does OK during the day. Mom can deal with that fussy. But the first night she screamed (not just cried) for 1 hour and 48 minutes. Then she would wake up every half hour and cry for 10 minutes. But the other members of BAA said this would only last 2 to 3 days. The second night the same thing. The third night was better, only an hour of screaming mixed with periods of crying. We were on the down hill. WRONG! Night 4, two hours of screaming. Night 5 1 and a half hours of screaming. Night 6 two hours of screaming. Night 7 ... we fell of the wagon.
Month 8 week 2 of Hannalee's life: The Binky Fairy is back, but it doesn't seem to calm her like it did. She can now scream with the Binky still in her mouth. We ruined her.

dont worry yet brit! Owen is 21 months and still has his binki for naps and night time! im so bad. i cant get rid of it. i havent even tried!! so it could be so much worse
