I decided to enroll Hannalee into swim lessons. The main goal: to tolerate putting her face in the water.
And.. she did it!
The first day when her teacher asked her to do 5 bobs (putting her head under the water) she politely said, "No, I don't want to."
We took the swim lessons from a lady in Matua that has a pool at her house. The pool was heated and nice and warm. For the first week and part of the second week while Tayo and I watch Hannie we were wrapped up in a towel to keep warm! At the end of June! But at the end of the second week we were baking. My cousin's Grandpa J always says about this state, "If you don't like the weather, wait 5 min." So true!
Hannalee enjoyed swim lessons for the most part. She loved chatting with her teacher. At one point the other teacher laughed at Hannalee and made a hand motion that said, "Chat, chat, chat."
But by the end of two weeks she would put her face in the water without much hesitation. And the greatest thing that came out of swim lessons is that bath time for her is not so bad any more. She'll even take a shower! Goal accomplished.
Don't you wish you could sport a swimsuit and cowgirl boots as well as Hannalee?
