My Fearless Swimmer

Hannalee loves water as long as it is on her own terms. Swimming pools are great, whereas sprinklers are not so good.

Our local swimming pool lets us in for $2.50 after 6:00. So about once a week I pick up Bob from his van pool stop and we head to the swimming pool. The pool has a great shallow end. Bob was playing with her there and I came up and asked, "Are you playing?"

Hannalee replied, "No. Swim." Then she made her fish noise. She was swimming on her belly and pretending to be a fish.

The pool also has two little slides, kinda like playground slides, that Hannalee liked to go on. But, those little slides are now baby stuff to Hannie. Bob took her on the "bid slide" (Hannie translation: big slide). The first time they went down, both Bob and Hannalee went under the water at the end. I thought that would be the end of the slide. Hannie would hate it now. But no. She wanted to go down it again, and again, and again. 16 times to be exact. Now every time we go to the pool that is all she wants to do. We have to convince her to swim around for a bit between sliding.
